Computer Numerical Control (If I remember correctly). Basiclly, a machine that utilizes CNC technology accepts a program and then will cut your metal (in some cases wood) for you. By creating a program, which will hold your design, and tell the machine exactly how to shape the part you insert. For instance, I have some experiance using a CNC lathe and milling machine (sp). I don't see why FreeBSD couldn't run a CNC machine, as as base OS. Although you may need software to to the interaction. Search for CNC throughout the ports collection, if you can get the software that the linux distro boasts, you should be perfectly fine running your standard ./configure --prefix=/usr/local blah blah... Best of luck to you on this search! > > >Net site would be greatly appreciated. > Do you mean in addition to www.freebsd.org or do you mean > www.freebsd.org? I think he speaks of an exact location to help him out. From this I gather that Joll503@aol.com has access to a CNC powered machine, perhaps he is the lead machinist in a metal shop, or a desicion maker for a metal working/manufacturing site. In this case his time may be limited, so he asks a resonally well stated question. Most of my thoughts on the answer are above, but I wish to point out: http://www.FreeBSD.org/ports has a searchable port listing, perhaps an input of cnc, or other key parts from the CNC programmers manual, will turn up some more information for his situation.
