I came to the conclusion that it wouldn't make the world better if I revert the patch modification and add MAKE_ARGS. I'm no able to remove the patch completly anyway. The CFLAGS parameters in this Makefile are needed for the compilation of the files in the subdirectory in question and can not be supplied generally via MAKE_ARGS.
