It switches of after 30s (default) when it isn't used. So the sound device is busy. I have changed it to 3s. (controlcenter-sound-soundserver). Of course this isn't a optimal solution. There's a plugin for xmms, so it can use artsd for output -BUT- it doesn't work with FreeBSD, at least with me. I posted this already at questions, but I got no answer :-(.
