ObjectStore is fast for a ObjectDB, but it's *darn* slow as compared to a relational DB, like Oracle and/or Informix. (We use their Java engine in our product, but speedy it ain't. And the locking in ObjectStore is useless at best. At least their payware Java DB has the ability to have more than one 'session' open on a DB at a time.)
