Is there a better solution? I think it's called `devfs' :-) Seriously - /sys/i386/i386/conf.c no longer exists. It is gone. There are still wild assumptions being made about the validity of certain major/minors, mind you, given that just about everyone is still running off of a non-devfs /dev (Julian, when's this thing going to become safe enough to use by *default* in -current? :-) but that will change soon enough. Then you guys can stop worrying about the assignments at all - they'll be totally dynamic. :) Jordan
