Is the disk in the machine running Windows 2000? If so, you will want to ensure that you have enabled Big LBA support on the Windows side, if you haven't already. There's a 137GB barrier in Windows 2k that can cause major data loss, as I learned the hard way. I don't know if it has any impact on Samba, but since the drives are on either side of the barrier it's worth looking into. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305098/EN-US/ If you haven't enabled this yet, do it. If you don't you will lose data, you will lose data, you will lose data. Even if you haven't lost data yet, you will. It might not make Samba work, but it will make Windows 2000 work. -- Danny P.S.
