However, ports/lang/gcc-devel (the current snapshot) compiles this file OK. Looking at the changelog, it seems that there has been a *lot* of work on the reload/clobber/etc area. So, if you want to compile the current XFree86, it looks like it'll need the port. The bad news is that the cygnus folks are absolutely determined to not support any dual-format (a.out and elf) stuff for us, this means that you won't be able to build a.out libraries.
