heheh I did stuff like that last week... mad a mistake in fstab. you can change the r/w setting of an already mounted FS. if you man mount it will tell you how. Also, you will have to manually mount all the other file systems if you want to use any editors. -michael -----Original Message----- From: Len Huppe [mailto:huppe@mailtag.com] Sent: Monday, October 09, 2000 12:14 PM To: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Subject: I'm locked out Hi All, I have a typo/syntax error in my /etc/rc.conf file, and I am now locked out of my system. I don't know how to get back in and edit the file. The kernel lets me run a shell but the root partition is mounted as read-only. Can somebody tell me how I can mount the drive and correct the typo? I tried running a "fixit" session from the live filesystem on CD 2 of the distribution set,but it won't let me run the mount command. Help please !! thanks in advance, Len Huppe To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
