Hi folks - I'm running into a rather strange problem that's got me stumped.. . . The box is a dual P3 with 2g ram running 4.2 release. The application is qmail handling inbound mail. The out of the box configuration of the box was running out of open files, so I bumped maxusers to 512 in the kernel. Ever since then, the box has been panicing and rebooting with "pipeinit: cannot allocate pipe -- out of kvm -- code = 3". Since then, I've cut max users to 256, 128 and finally 64. I bumped kern.maxfiles up to 5000 to compensate with maxusers = 64. The box is still crashing with the out of kvm panic after a few hours of runtime. I've done some digging around, but haven't been able to find much about this panic, let alone any kinds of possible solutions. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what I could try?
