Hello, I'm writing about snd_hda driver, I saw on http://wikitest.freebsd.org/soundsystem "more reports are welcome". I have a laptop with an "Intel 82801FB ICH6 - High Definition Audio Controller [B-2]" sound card according to Everest. Sound doesn't seem to work with FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT (i rebuilt world and kernel with latest source today) I have snd_hda_load="YES" in loader.conf here's cat /dev/sndstat : FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm: 32bit) Installed devices: pcm0: <Intel 82801F High Definition Audio Controller> at memory 0x80000000 irq 16 kld snd_hda [20061111_0034] (1p/1r/1v channels duplex default) It looks good, but in gnome sound preferences, when I test the sound nothing happens, no matter what device I pick. Sound does work with Ubuntu, cat /dev/sndstat looks like this, if that's of any help : Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v1.0.12rc1 emulation code) Kernel: Linux ubuntu 2.6.17-10-generic #2 SMP Fri Oct 13 18:45:35 UTC 2006 i686 Config options: 0 Installed drivers: Type 10: ALSA emulation Card config: HDA Intel at 0x80000000 irq 169 saa7133[0] at 0xb4007800 irq 209 Audio devices: 0: ALC880 Analog (DUPLEX) 1: SAA7134 PCM Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Midi devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Timers: 31: system timer Mixers: 0: Realtek ALC880 1: SAA7134 Mixer maybe I'm doing something wrong, I'm pretty new to FreeBSD. regards, Christophe
