I got a computer running Freebsd... if you could help me I would very much appreciate it. Here is what happened. I am running a dell poweredges by the way :-) The system had gone down and I was unable to log in via SSH. The box still pinged so I went to the console and it was scrolling with errors from the hard drive... I tried to use the keyboard but I was unable to get a login screen. So, I rebooted the box and I was told by the bios the hard drives where not there. I went into the bios and then alt-b which rebooted the machine. (after I re-seeded all the connections to the hard drives) The machine came back up however when the drives where being checked because freebsd was not rebooted there was errors found. When the system finally came up it was giving errors like the master.passwd file was gone. Nothing could start (apache, named bla bla bla)... I then rebooted and stopped the boot process so I could look at the files master.passwd and the group file and so forth. They all seem to be in tact with no problems. However the system will can not find user root, nobody or FTP. Do you have any ideas on what I can do next? Other than that the system comes up and gives me a login prompted. Hope to hear from you soon. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo!
