Just as a data point, the following works for me.
I have an HP Color LaserJet 5 with a network interface on the printer (gotta
love ebay), and this does the right thing to print to it . . .
lp|local line printer|HP Color LaserJet 5:\
:sh:mx#0:\
:rm=cljet5:sd=/var/spool/output/lpd:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs:\
:if=/usr/local/bin/cljif:\
