Because the whole thing seemed to be shrouded in mystery. I've heard FreeBSD, Inc. variously described as a group, a non-profit (apparently, this isn't correct), and as a for-profit corporation with a small group of stakeholders. If one relies on an operating system, one does have an interest in making sure that the company that produces it is on steady ground! While a privately held corporation isn't under any obligation to release information, it sure does instill confidence in its viability and its products when it does so. --Brett To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-chat" in the body of the message
