``poorly written'' is hardly fair.  It has been written by somebody
who has just figured out how to do all this, back in that time.

Feel free to submit a better entry.

Note: fdisk is optional, you don't necessarily need it.  Disklabel is
mandatory however.

Are you sure your kernel even detects the disk?  What do you mean with
``can't get it to recognize''?
