The OS got installed and I can boot off floppy and instruct it to load the kernel of disk1 (the master IDE and intended boot device) and the system will come up just fine. However, when I go to boot off the hard drive instead of the floppy it comes up and says "missing operating system." Its as if the MBR is not able to locate and execute the boot loader. I've tried re-installing the MBR, changing to the boot manager from the standard MBR but nothing seems to help. So I was pondering manually installing the MBR and explicitly linking it to one of the boot programs but I'm not sure which one to use. Can anyone either provide me with a remedy to this problem or let me know which boot program to use when installing the MBR? (I kind of suspect that the MBR is refferencing "disk0" meaning the floppy and not "disk1" as the boot device.) Any other thoughts? -Wayne To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
