It was not containing the binary code. What is this directory > > for ? What is the version it referring to ? This is the code currently under development, which will form version 2.2 of FreeBSD. This is distributed as source code, which needs an already-installed system to compile it. Periodically, "snapshots" of this development code are made available, which can be installed from the FTP site in the same way as release versions. These are kept in a directory called something like 060196-SNAP (from memory). > Does 2.1.0 version support PCI bus for ethernet cards ? Yes, a number of PCI ethernet cards are supported in 2.1.0. Please see the HARDWARE.TXT file in the root directory of the distribution for details. -- James Raynard, Edinburgh, Scotland james@jraynard.demon.co.uk
