I have commented out my /etc/ttys entry and did a kill -HUP 1, then tried to kill the deamons, but they keep restarting. I used kill `ps -awx| grep xdm | cut -c 1-6`, but that is not fast enough, as I keep getting messages that the ps jobs do not exist. Any other ideas. It's seems to be slowing down my backups. Wayne
