Justin, Bind is pretty simple to get running on FreeBSD. For starters, make sure that you have it enabled in /etc/rc.conf. From there, watch /var/log/messages. It should give you some fairly helpful information as to what is causing it to bomb out. Its possible that its missing some files that need to be in /etc/named. If you want, feel free to email me (directly or to the list) some output of /var/log/messages and I'll see if I can help you out further.
