According to rc.subr(8), rc_quiet is nonexistent ;))  And rc.subr
reads

and in this case the error is the diagnostics, at least in my
understanding.  But if you will be able to explain the semantics
of quiet<op>, may be I will better understand the intentions of
its introduction.
