You can tell boot where to go with /boot.conf

> echo '1:sd(2,a)/kernel' > /boot.config

for example.

You may put a BIOS drive number, a controller type, a unit number, a
par- tition, a kernel file name and the -b, -D, -h or -P options in
/boot.config to set defaults.  Write them in one line just as you type
at the `boot:' prompt.
