Thanks a lot for testing. This patch was made long time ago but I haven't had chance to commit it due to lack of access to hardware. Because the patch bypasses mii(4) layer and makes it hard to read code, I didn't like the patch but it seems the patch makes bce(4) usable on blade boxes at least.
