I am trying to install freebsd 2.1 from dos partition since bsd cannot recognise my eide 8x aztech cdrom. I have set the following partitions on my adaptec 4.3 Gb scsi2 hard disks (controller aha-2940 Ultra wide).... 1 Gb dos partition 2 Gb bsd partition (will be mounted on /) 1 Gb bsd partition (will be mounted on /usr) remainder as swap file However, I keep getting the error message whn writing partition information to drive sd0 " sysinstall: read: input/output error panic: Going nowhere without my init! " (the system then reboots) The disk geometry has been set correctly and the kernel recognizes both the scsi host adapter and the hard disk. I cant seem to find what the problem is. Please help if you have any ideas as to the cause. It will be very much appreciated. Paul Woods .
