I suspect that these messages in dmesg are probably significant: ad6: FAILURE - READ_DMA status=51<READY,DSC,ERROR> error=40<UNCORRECTABLE> LBA=201485471 GEOM_MIRROR: Request failed (error=5). ad6[READ(offset=103160561152, length=16384)] GEOM_MIRROR: Device gm0: provider ad6 disconnected. So, I have a dud drive? That's a bit disappointing: it's only new. But why would hald mount it if gmirror doesn't like it? I'll have to try rebooting the system...
