The problem with the Compaq is not, that is a PCI 2.0 compliant systems (these are quite common), but that the Compaq was identified as using an old PCI configuration mechanism, when it in fact uses the new one ... There is modified probe code in FreeBSD-current, which has been successfully tested on Compaq Prosignea and Compaq Prolinea systems. Don't know about you environment: Can you build a kernel on another machine or using some other controller (or possible an IDE disk drive ?). There currently is no boot floppy with the new PCI probe code, but I could try to build one, if this is the only possibility to get your system installed. Regards, STefan
