Thank you.=20

Re: this part of the in-code comment:=20

I guess that the original intention was =E2=80=93 essentially =E2=80=93 for=
 whoever sees the
file to:=20

* consider also looking _elsewhere_=20

=E2=80=93 not necessarily at a plain text file, although plain text can be =
nice.=20

The definitive point of reference might be:=20

ISO - ISO 3166 =E2=80=94 Country Codes
<https://www.iso.org/iso-3166-country-codes.html>;

 * Online Browsing Platform <https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#search/code/>;

To complement the alternative that you found, a few more resources. Some are
historical.=20

Discovered indirectly via
<https://github.com/iiab/internet-in-a-box/issues/28#issuecomment-16304781>=
:=20

* <https://www.geonames.org/countries/>;

=E2=80=93 I like its clarity; and via <https://www.geonames.org/about.html>=
, the=20
  recent modifications <https://www.geonames.org/recent-changes.html>=20
  seem to be reasonable (I sped through a handful of the linked pages)

=E2=80=93 legible in e.g. lynx.

which is also legible in lynx.=20

<https://github.com/topics/iso3166-2?o=3Ddesc&s=3Dupdated>; interesting, alt=
hough I
couldn't find anything like a plain text listing in any of the repositories.
