:: You misunderstand me. The problem is not to generate a :: suitable plaintext :: password, the problem is to generate the encrypted version :: once you have a :: plaintext. AFAICT the only programs in FreeBSD that can do :: that (passwd(1) and :: pw(8)) only operate on /etc/master.passwd.
