Both for tty in /dev/ttyv? do vidcontrol VGA_80x60 <$tty >/dev/null 2>&1 done And: for tty in /dev/ttyv? do vidcontrol VGA_80x60 <$tty >/dev/null 2>&1 done I got:
    for tty in /dev/ttyv?
    do
      vidcontrol VGA_80x60 <$tty >/dev/null 2>&1
    done
For - bash$ vidcontrol VGA_80x60 And bash$ vidcontrol VGA_80x60 both gave:
    bash$ vidcontrol VGA_80x60
If noone has any other evidence, I'd like to propose the more readable form. I get the impression it just ignores a starting and ending empty lines - blank (ie, with spaces) lines still show up.
