Rebuilding with the 1.4.4 version of gnutls allows authentication to occur normally. Packet dumps of both configurations can be made available to assist in debugging. >How-To-Repeat: Install the current version of evolution and gnutls (I do so through the gnome2 port). Attempt to configure a new account to a (working) exchange server. The wizard will not be able to authenticate the username and password, and will not be able to proceed until the username and password is authenticated. >Fix: At present, the only known fix is to revert to gnutls 1.4.4.
