It is true, regardless of the UEFI: bootloader is the place where you load modules essential for the boot process. Anything that can be safely postponed should be postponed to the rc(8) stage. Loading modules early even when it works for the time being is just asking for trouble in the future like we've seen for NVidia driver ones. ./danfe
