It is nicer when they release quite full documentation even only as 
PDF's on their (working!!) web-site down-load area. At the very least
you should be able to easily access the default settings of a product
and information sufficient to change the defaults when necessary.

I would be happy with disclosure of the information. That way I could
easily use the product in a wider range of systems.
