Unfortunately not.  This change was deliberate, because a lot of
software will not build with the latest versions of auto*, which are
unaccountably incompatible with older versions.  Using generic names
would cause software to pick up versions other than the version they
are known and intended to build with.

You're invited to express your opinions about the necessity of using
these ugly hacks with the autotools developers :-)
