For me and others this results in usable suspend/resume. I think this is because the VESA resume code somehow conflicts with the i915kms resume code that restores the backlight, but I'm not 100% sure. There might be some graphical glitches after resume. I guess the root cause of this will only be fixed until the KMS code is updated to Linux 3.8.
