It *was* French.  It's ours now and nobody can stop us from taking
more of their words if and whenever we feel like it, hahahahahaha!! :-)

P.S. Seriously, that is sort of how english seems to work.  Just look
at an "english modern dictionary" sometime and you'll note everything
from "ennui" to "veranda" :-)
