Now my card seemed to work fine. (I have two PS-CE2-10's, same symptoms) It only looked that way :-( - I get regular messages on the console saying: xe0: watchdog timeout; = resetting card. - pinging works fine (even with big packets) - The card seems to lock up in a strange state when I try to = telnet/ssh/ftp/traceroute to/from the laptop. when it is locked up, ifconfig does not show any irregularities. ifconfig xe0 down followed by ifconfig xe0 up resets the card and it = gets active again (ssh session can connect and does not time out / lock = or anything else unless I try to set-up another connection) demzy# ping 10.0.0.254 PING 10.0.0.254 (10.0.0.254): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=3D0 ttl=3D255 time=3D1.150 ms 64 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=3D1 ttl=3D255 time=3D1.093 ms ^C --- 10.0.0.254 ping statistics --- 2 packets transmitted, 2 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max/stddev =3D 1.093/1.121/1.150/0.029 ms demzy# ping -s 2000 10.0.0.254 PING 10.0.0.254 (10.0.0.254): 2000 data bytes 2008 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=3D0 ttl=3D255 time=3D6.304 ms 2008 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=3D1 ttl=3D255 time=3D6.227 ms 2008 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=3D2 ttl=3D255 time=3D6.206 ms ^C --- 10.0.0.254 ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max/stddev =3D 6.206/6.246/6.304/0.042 ms demzy# demzy# uname -a FreeBSD demzy.local.net 4.3-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.3-RELEASE #0: Fri Jun 1 = 16:47:35 CEST 2001 dda@demzy.local.net:/usr/src/sys/compile/DEMZY i386 demzy# using default pccard.conf rc.conf: inetd_enable=3D"NO" kern_securelevel=3D"1" kern_securelevel_enable=3D"YES" sshd_enable=3D"YES" apm_enable=3D"YES" pccard_enable=3D"YES" pccard_ifconfig=3D"inet 172.16.0.253 netmask 255.255.255.0 media = 10baseT/UTP" defaultrouter=3D"172.16.0.254" hostname=3D"demzy.local.net" ifconfig xe0: xe0: flags=3D8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 172.16.0.253 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 172.16.0.255 ether 00:80:c7:19:57:e2 media: 10baseT/UTP supported media: autoselect 10base2/BNC 10baseT/UTP pccardc dumpcis: Code 136 not found Code 136 not found code Unknown ignored Code 137 not found Code 137 not found code Unknown ignored Configuration data for card in slot 0 Tuple #1, code =3D 0x1 (Common memory descriptor), length =3D 2 000: 00 ff Common memory device information: Device number 1, type No device, WPS =3D OFF Speed =3D No speed, Memory block size =3D reserved, 32 = units Tuple #2, code =3D 0x17 (Attribute memory descriptor), length =3D 2 000: 00 ff Attribute memory device information: Device number 1, type No device, WPS =3D OFF Speed =3D No speed, Memory block size =3D reserved, 32 = units Tuple #3, code =3D 0x15 (Version 1 info), length =3D 79 000: 03 00 58 69 72 63 6f 6d 00 43 72 65 64 69 74 43 010: 61 72 64 20 31 30 42 61 73 65 2d 54 00 50 53 2d 020: 43 45 32 2d 31 30 00 32 2e 31 30 00 00 00 00 00 030: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 040: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ff Version =3D 3.0, Manuf =3D [Xircom], card vers =3D [CreditCard = 10Base-T] Addit. info =3D [PS-CE2-10],[2.10] Tuple #4, code =3D 0x0 (Null tuple), length =3D 8 000: 19 57 e2 00 00 00 00 00 Tuple #5, code =3D 0x0 (Null tuple), length =3D 8 000: 04 06 00 80 c7 19 57 e2 Tuple #6, code =3D 0x20 (Manufacturer ID), length =3D 5 000: 05 01 0b 01 41 PCMCIA ID =3D 0x105, OEM ID =3D 0x10b Tuple #7, code =3D 0x44 (Card init date), length =3D 4 000: aa 24 57 24 Tuple #8, code =3D 0x1a (Configuration map), length =3D 5 000: 01 01 00 08 03 Reg len =3D 2, config register addr =3D 0x800, last config =3D = 0x1 Registers: XX------ Tuple #9, code =3D 0x1b (Configuration entry), length =3D 22 000: c1 c1 bd 0f 55 45 55 36 e0 17 17 e4 60 00 00 07 010: 70 bc 8e 10 00 20 Config index =3D 0x1(default) Interface byte =3D 0xc1 (I/O) +RDY/-BSY active, wait signal = supported Vcc pwr: Nominal operating supply voltage: 5 x 1V Minimum operating supply voltage: 4 x 1V Maximum operating supply voltage: 5 x 1V Continuous supply current: 3 x 100mA Wait scale Speed =3D 1.2 x 10 ms RDY/BSY scale Speed =3D 1.2 x 10 ms Card decodes 4 address lines, full 8/16 Bit I/O I/O address #
