Hello , There could be two causes of your problem. Firts your CDROM drive is old one and it can't read cdr's It is not recoverable no SRM updates will help nothing will help ! Second one you have a really driver/firmware problem. Try to read any other cdrom not CDR's on your Alpha machine I think you can do at least ls from SRM. Or to be 100% sure just install your CDROM drive into other PC and try to read any CDR. Please be sure to make multiple tests cause single test can succeed. -- Vahe --- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Crespo, Ramon" <IMCEAEX-_O=STIS_OU=STIS_CN=RECIPIENTS_CN=RCRESPO@STIS.com> To: "'freebsd-alpha@freebsd.org'" <freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.ORG> Sent: Monday, June 18, 2001 2:30 PM Subject: alpha's reading cdr's > Hello All, > > I've been trying to install FreeBSD-4.3-RELEASE on a nice PWS 600a (old NT > machine) here ,but I don't think the CD-ROM reads cdr's ..
