OK, let's see the error output verbatim. If it's crashing in configure when it can't find proplist.h, the next thing I'll want is to see what's in /var/db/pkg/libproplist-0.8.3/+CONTENTS. When my machine was crashing on this, proplist.h was missing from that file. I'm saying re-install libproplist, and your problem should be fixed.
