I have had good luck with my 2GB Atlas, which is more noisy
than my (5400RPM) 2GB IBM DORS when idle, but less noisy
under high load.

The Atlas II is significantly faster, and the 2GB version is
currently available for some 540DM (+VAT) over here, which
makes me think you should get it for US$310. They doubled
capacity per platter compared to the original Atlas by using
MR heads ...
Power consumption is specified as 7.6W (idle) and 10W seeking.

Bonnie results are very good, you better buy an Ultra-SCSI
card if you want to connect both drives to the same host-
adapter :)

There is also a 2GB variant of the Viking, which looks like
a follow-on to the Grand-Prix (which was not such a great
drive). It got slightly better sustained throughput specs,
but I guess I'd rather buy the Atlas II ...
