I'm considering it too, because it looks quite affordable.  If I'm
forced to buy a laptop with a pre-installed OS, I'd prefer this to the
alternative.

Can anyone tell me how good XFree86 is on it right now?  I've seen
screenshots etc, but would like to know how stable/usable it really
is.  Also, does it ship with compilers, and does TeX work on it?
