Well, make(1)?  Or do you mean that you would be allowed to throw
away the old .o files?  That would be rather hard to accomplish.

Depends on your notion of `inexpensive'.  The IBM DCAS34330 IMHO is
(given its size).

Maybe you can buy an old used drive that became too small for someone
in some second-hand shop.
