This is what works for me -

   For MS-Mouse on COM1:

        /dev/tty00

   And to start X

        xinit

Remember /usr/X11/bin needs to be in your path (assuming you
made the /usr/X11 symbolic link to X11R6)

I certainly haven't worked out all the quirks of setting
up XFree86 yet... but this much should get you a little
further...
