You mean like, eg. /sys/i386/isa/if_ep.c? (The 3c509 driver.) You go to the manufacturer of the card, and you ask them for the programmer's reference manual for it. In some cases, you look at the card and the chip(s) on it, and go to the chip manufacturer instead.
