I figured I would make it quicker to reproduce so I did make -n > file I removed all the files before the line that caused the issue and fed it to sh. It completed without errors. I'll swap this in and try it. If THIS fails, I'll try again, using the GENERIC 12.3 kernel. If THAT fails, I will have to resort to cross compiling on another machine. Not a good situation.
