I am trying for a week and a half to have my Nikon CoolScan II scanner
work on my PC. All works fine under NT, but the problems are with
Linux.

I have bought an Adaptec 2940-AU board for the connection (the only
device on its SCSI bus is the scanner, there are no SCSI disks)

I've tried several Kernels:

2.0.32
2.0.35
2.0.35 + aic7xxx-5.1.0-pre5 patch

the aic7xxx driver being compiled either in module or statically.

In any cases, there is a hangup when the driver is started.
I've tried two different cables from different vendors.
I've tried to put the board in various PCI slots of the mother board.
I've tried lots and lots of BIOS settings.
...

So, my question is :

Has somebody here tried/succeeded to install a 2940-AU adapter with
Linux.
If yes : which kernel, which aic7xxx version, with which SCSI devices ???

Thank you for your help,
Frederic
