I seem to be having another issue, then. I've checked that LDAP support is compiled in: # smbd -b | grep LDAP HAVE_LDAP_H HAVE_LDAP HAVE_LDAP_ADD_RESULT_ENTRY HAVE_LDAP_INIT HAVE_LDAP_INITIALIZE HAVE_LDAP_SASL_WRAPPING HAVE_LDAP_SET_REBIND_PROC HAVE_LIBLDAP LDAP_SET_REBIND_PROC_ARGS And, # smbd -b | grep ldap pdb_ldap pdb_smbpasswd pdb_tdbsam rpc_lsarpc rpc_winreg rpc_initshutdown rpc_dssetup rpc_wkssvc rpc_svcctl2 rpc_ntsvcs2 rpc_netlogon rpc_netdfs rpc_srvsvc rpc_spoolss rpc_eventlog2 rpc_samr idmap_ldap idmap_tdb idmap_passdb idmap_nss nss_info_template auth_sam auth_unix auth_winbind auth_server auth_domain auth_builtin vfs_default vfs_posixacl Yet, when I try to perform a 'net sam provision' command I get the following: Checking for Domain Users group. Adding the Domain Users group. Unable to allocate a new gid to create Domain Users group! Checking for Domain Admins group. Adding the Domain Admins group. Unable to allocate a new gid to create Domain Admins group! Check for Administrator account. Adding the Administrator user. Can't create Administrator user, Domain Admins group not available! And this seems to be caused by what I see in the log.winbindd-idmap file: [2009/04/15 09:14:12, 1] winbindd/idmap.c:idmap_alloc_init(578) could not find idmap alloc module ldap [2009/04/15 09:14:12, 1] winbindd/idmap.c:idmap_alloc_init(578) could not find idmap alloc module ldap How could it be that it can't find the module when support is compiled in?
