Hi!
Few weeks ago, I bought the FreeBSD 2.1 and tried to install it to one of
my computers. The computer equiped with:
80486 CPU: 66MHz
One adaptec 2840vl/2842vl SCSI controller which control my quad speed SONY
CDROM.
One EIDE controller with an 814MB hard drive.
One NE2000 compatible ethernet card.
One 14.4Kbps internal fax modern.
A Diamond Stealth SE video card with 1M memory on board.
A 15" MAGVAVOX MAGNASCAN/15 monitor with Horizontal frequency:30-66KHz and
Vertical frequence 50-11Hz.
Because I encounter so many problems while I tried to install FreeBSD to
my system, I even get a FreeBSD 2.2 Snapshot and the booklet: Installing and
Running FreeBSD and hope if they could help me. After I read the booklet, I
have some questions.
(1) Is there any way that I can install FreeBSD to my computer with above
equipment?
(2) If the answer is "NO", what should I do to install the FreeBSD in my
computer with the minimum cost?
If I add a extra SCSI hard drive and set it as D drive, would it be
easier to install?
Or, if, I took the EIDE controller and the 814 hard drive out of my
computer and install a SCSI hard drive, would it be helpful?
(3) The original disk Geometry was: 1654 cyls/ 16 heads/ 63 sectors
During the repartition, the disk Geometry became: 827 cyls/ 32 heads/63
sectors
And a disk space disagrement message would display while
installation.
I really need some help to solve these problems.
thanks
Steve
