I cvsup'd to -stable around 10:00am Wed August 15, 2001 EDT, but didn't start excercising it until the next day, when I discovered that TCP/IP connectivity was abysmal. I first noticed the abysmal connectevity when I tried to start `arla' (`ports/net/arla', and discovered that my ethernet connection at work was even worse than my piddly dialip connection at home. After some poking around, I discovered a most unusual fact: If I ran 'ping -c 1000 -i 10 -s 1200 ' I got delays of 2 seconds. Even more unusual was the delay would drop by 10 ms every 'ping' packet, until the delay reached 1.1 seconds, when the delay would reset to 2 seconds. This is very frustrating, as I don't have a way to easily connect to a network right now. (I suppose I'll have to use an external modem.) B.T.W.: Another box I have (an ancient Gateway 2000 P5-120) is still working, but it just isn't portable. It was upgraded later that day, and again after I ran into troubles with the laptop. I'm trying to keep a full CVS archive of 'src-all' on this machine. >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-bugs" in the body of the message
