Maybe, but since I have several machines running now, had probably close 
to a hundred of combinations in the past and it only happens here, it 
would be a very specific bug, possibly with this drive/controller.

In my case it might work fine for a few days or a few weeks, but then 
starts misbehaving.

This is something I cannot possibly do, due to physical restrains.
However, power cycling the whole machine does not help.
