Can anyone tell me why gdb is giving this error? Here is the output :

(gdb) symbol-file kernel.debug
Reading symbols from kernel.debug...done.
(gdb) exec-file /var/crash/kernel.0
(gdb) core-file /var/crash/vmcore.0
"/var/crash/vmcore.0" is not a core dump: File format not recognized
