Subject:   does XFree86 have better hardware detection than Xorg?

Is it possible that XFree86 will handle detection of
my equipment better than Xorg does?

I have a Toshiba A105-S101 with an ATI 200M video
device and a 1280x800 video screen.

Xorg will drive that video only at 1024x768 and only
with the vesa video driver.
