The difficulty, if I understand the context at all, is: what happens when a new user installs emulator ports from sysinstall? (I can tell you the answer without even trying: it falls over after she fills up the root partition.) So, while I agree that David's solution is not the correct one, I would also suggest that something needs to be done to solve the problem.
